Bridget at Six Weeks: A Fashion Icon

Even for  a model, she's a shade on the scrawny side...

 Flouncy dress on balding baby!

 Ruffled romper!

What are you bringing toward me?
Is that a...no, are you really going to dress me in a...?

 You bet I am! It's headband-with-a-bow time!

Back in neutrals, but not for long...

 What now?

ENOUGH!

How long is Bridget? Sooooo long!

Fine. I guess I could get used to this center-of-attention thing.

Strap on your seatbelt, little girl. I see a lot more pink and purple in your future.

Easter 2012

This year, the Easter Bunny gave each boy a wind-up construction vehicle

(driven by a rabbit and a chick, respectively);

a light-up spinning wand;

and a big old hunk of chocolate, of course!

He/she also left this note in each basket.
I love the explicit mention of a 6-egg maximum.

Off they went, searching high...

 and low...

for their soccer/foot-/basket-/baseball eggs.

They were eggs-pert hunters!*

Also very proud of themselves.

Mommy and Bridget were recovering from some nasty colds,
but they loved watching the boys have so much fun.

Happy Easter 2012!!

*Sleep deprivation brings out the bad puns. Mea culpa.

Interrogating One-Month-Old Bridget

Yawwwwwn.

I'm a little tired, can we hurry this along?

Smiling? Sure I am, but my non-gas-related grins are reserved for my big brothers.

Excuse me? I'm shocked that you'd ask a lady for her weight!

Fine, I'm 9 lbs., 13 oz. and 22 inches long.

Yep, I've been told I look like my brother before.

And if I turn juuust a little bit to the right,
I look like the other brother. See?

And like my dad, and like my mom,
yes, blah blah blah, you are booooorrrrring me!

No, really, thanks for being a fan.
Good night and good luck!

Bridget's Fourth Week

There is something about a third baby.

Or maybe just this third baby.

Or maybe just me as a third-time mom.

I wouldn't say that I "savor every moment," especially when we're in hour six of a marathon nursing-and-dozing session. Still, I haven't yet wished for time to speed up, for her to reach any of the milestones that I know are Right Around the Corner. She doesn't have much of a personality, and she doesn't smile intentionally, and she obviously can't sit up or talk to me or play with her brothers.

But this time around, I love her every day, exactly as she is.

Doting

Whenever someone asks how the boys treat their little sister, I tell them they love her, and it's true.

Finn constantly asks to "snuggle Bridget?"
He also gives her impromptu kisses and wants to hold her constantly.

Here are the boys with their "It's a girl!" balloons
from Grandmom and Grandpop...yes, they've claimed the balloons as "theirs."

Finn also likes Bridget to "lie next to me!"
and "sleep with me!"

I also tell people that Will is less of a baby-lover and more of a teacher. He asks questions about Bridget, wants to know what she's doing and why. As you can see, he also has a knack for figuring out what she needs and helping her get it--we watched silently as the above sequence unfolded. Will opened his mouth so she'd do the same, put the pacifier in correctly, all as if it were second nature. In that last picture, he's making his embarrassed face; he looks like that when we make too much of a fuss over him, which we had just done by saying "What a wonderful big brother you are!" for the thousandth time. Sweet guy.

Finny's protective, too, but with less studied analysis, more unadulterated joy.
When he found Bridget on a blanket in the living room, he gleefully ran to her, crying "Bridget's right there!"

These boys are the best.
