Another Big Reveal

We are proud to announce...our new home!

While the absolute finishing touches are not completed, we're making a lot of progress.

Here is the master bedroom and our brand-new, super-exciting king-sized bed:

This hallway leads to the three rooms and bathroom we like to call "the guest wing"...
because we pretend to be very fancy these days.

We will definitely take pictures of the office and the guest rooms and bath as soon as they are up to Dave's stringent expectations!

The Russian Wedding

In late August, Dave and I went to the wedding of one of his good work friends, Alex. Because of the work connection, we got to spend the evening with some of our favorite people: Kerry, Christian, Jay, Lidia, Gordon & Colleen.

Alex and his new wife, Deana, are both Russian, and so their reception was at an enormous restaurant in Allston that caters to the Russian crowd. The music was Russian; the toasts were in Russian; and of course the bottles of vodka were already at the tables when we arrived! It was definitely an interesting and entertaining experience, and we all had a lot of fun:

The picture of me is far from flattering, but it sums up my night so well...Christian making me laugh until I cry while Jay tries not to be amused--and fails miserably!

The bump comparison: there's no doubt that Christian takes home the "biggest loser" prize!

Kerry looked so gorgeous at the wedding that I didn't mind posting this picture--nobody would be looking at me anyway!

32 weeks...and then some!

I had my 32-week appointment this morning. The good news? My doc's best guess it that the baby will not be particularly oversized. Yay! (Still, no one can guarantee I won't end up with a ten-pounder...I'm holding onto those onesie extenders for sure!)

Leah, who is both a fantastic first houseguest and a wonderful photographer, did me the honor of taking my 8-month picture a few days after I hit the 32-week mark.

Where have my eyelids gone? I miss them terribly.

Movin' On Up!

Most of you know the ordeal we went through with the last house we tried to buy; it was not a pretty process. From December to June, we were hands-on with every tiny development of the house we were building in Marlborough. Finally, by the end of June we realized that our time, energy and effort had been in vain, and our shady builder could not be relied upon to finish the job, or finish it well.

We had to move quickly and ended up purchasing a condo in Newton, in a neighborhood called Nonantum Village--very close to where Dave lived for five years in Watertown. Moving in exactly two months prior to my due date was a challenging experience, especially for Dave, since he was doing a lot of this:
While I was doing a lot of this*:
And somehow, while I sat like a slug on a rug, stuffing Teddy Grahams in my mouth and amusing myself by reading the bed assembly instructions aloud in French, Dave still managed to mostly look like this:
I knew I married that guy for a reason! Anyway, we love our new place and will post pictures of a more finished product as soon as possible.

*Yes, that picture is from 3.5 years ago, when I could still see my feet and didn't even know Dave existed...but I somehow deleted the picture of my love affair with the Teddy Grahams, and I figured a shot of me devouring a Snickers was the next best thing.
